What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) is made up of two words, Rei meaning spiritual or sacred and Ki meaning energy, universal energy or life force energy. The word reiki can be read as sacred energy, spiritual energy, or most commonly known in modern day as universal life force energy. Reiki where the “R” is in capital is referring to the healing system of Reiki, and reiki where the “r” is in small caps is referring to the universal life force energy.
What is Reiki Healing?
Our whole existence, that is you, me, the entire universal is made up of energy. Energy is made up of atoms. Atoms are made up of moving protons, neutrons and electrons. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, It can only be transferred or transformed. We are eternal energy beings in constant motion. You might be thinking, what does this have to do with reiki healing?
When we are motivated and full of life, our internal life force energy is strong and flowing smoothly. When we are feeling down or even sick, it is likely that our internal life force energy is weakened or blocked, hence causing us to feel lethargic, experiencing aches and pains, and emotional imbalances.
Reiki healing is the act of harnessing the sacred universal life force energy to move stuck or stagnant energy, and recalibrate the energetic body for a better flow of energy. The reiki practitioner channels the universal life force energy through their hands to facilitate the flow of healing energies to the required areas where healing is required.
Reiki is a powerful and non-invasive healing technique. The only thing required is for the client (person receiving the reiki healing) to be in a relaxed state of mind and open to receiving the healing energies for their healing. The reiki practitioner will set an intent for the healing energies and channel it to the client through the placement of their palms. Both the reiki practitioner and the client will let go of any expectation of the outcome and let the reiki do what is best for the client at that point in time.
Some major areas helped by reiki healing may include:
• Improved physical energy levels
• Promotes harmony and balance
• Improves sleep patterns
• Assist the body in releasing tension and toxins
• Improved mental awareness and relaxation
What is Distant Reiki Healing?
Distant Reiki Healing undergoes the same process as in person reiki healing, except it is done remotely. Reiki Distant Reiki Healing is based on the understanding that we are all connected as we are all energy matter and part of a larger energy field. The reiki healing is not limited by time, space or geographic location. As such, this allows the reiki practitioner to channel healing energy to the client receiving the reiki via the energy field.
How is the Distant Reiki Healing performed?
The Distant Reiki is done remotely, via distance. There is no need for a call or connection via the internet.
At the agreed time and date, the reiki practitioner will meditate, open a healing channel, infuse the energies with the healing intention and channel it to the client for their greatest and highest good. The reiki practitioner will note down any sensations, images, words or messages that are received during the session. These normally do not have any meaning to the reiki practitioner, however they may have relevance for the client. A summary (if any) will be provided to the client by email. The client is also welcomed to provide feedback after the session has ended.
The client will need a space that could be their home or where they can lay down or be seated comfortably with eyes closed and relaxed. The client needs to ensure that they are completely free from interruption for the duration of their session where possible.
Before the healing session commences, it is important that the client keeps a calm and open mind as scepticism or any ego expectation can hinder the effectiveness of the Reiki healing. The client should wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing and remove shoes, jewellery and prescription glasses (if applicable), and have a bottle of water close by to start the physical cleansing process after the session.
Before the Reiki Healing session
Before the Reiki session, the client would be required to complete a client attunement intake form providing general information such as personal details, medical background and what areas the client is are looking for relief. Would this be physical, emotional or spiritual relief?
The client attunement intake information is required for the purposes of the reiki healing only. Rest assured that personal information provided will not be provided to a third party.
After reviewing the form and understanding what areas of healing is required, there may or may not be further clarification via email or discussion.
PLEASE NOTE: Always speak to your doctor if you plan to use reiki to help with any medical condition you may have. Reiki healing does not take the place of conventional medicine. It does not replace the advice of a qualified medical practitioner. Always consult a GP for an acute or infectious condition, and problems of an urgent nature. Also continue with your prescribed medication.
